Producing your own publications

Getting an ISBN or ISSN

If you are personally undertaking a publishing process, we can help you obtain an ISBN for your book or an ISSN for your journal.

Read our guide on ISBNS and ISSNs when self-publishing (PDF)

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)

If you require a persistent identifier for your publication we can provide advice on assigning DOIs to RIS outputs. This includes edited collections where the editor is a member of the University of Nottingham but one or more of the authors is not.

Email the Open Access team about DOIs

Publishing an open access book

If you are interested in learning more about open access book publishing, we recommend consulting the Open Access Books Toolkit which is hosted on the OAPEN website. The toolkit contains articles, FAQs and a glossary of key terms.
