Lisa Kämmerling is a research fellow in the Immuno-bioengineering Group of the School of Life Sciences. She completed her BSc in Molecular Medicine at Ulm University, Germany in 2016. From 2017 to 2021 she was a graduate student with Amir Ghaemmaghami and Morgan Alexander at the University of Nottingham working on (meth)acrylate and acrylamide polymer for dendritic cell modulation, with the aim to direct antitumour immune responses. Since 2022 she has been working as a research fellow at the University of Nottingham researching biomaterial strategies for immune modulation and their future clinical translation.

Interested in the ability of biomaterials to modulate the immune system - specifically via dendritic cells and other innate immune cells. Understanding how biomaterials are able to immune-instruct their environment will open new possibilities in the field of immuno-oncology, vaccinations, implants, autoimmune diseases, allergies and more.
