Viva Success for Christopher Stafford

We are delighted to announce that School of Politics and International Relations doctoral researcher Christopher Stafford has recently passed his PhD viva, subject to minor amendments.

Chris' thesis 'The will of the People? ? The responsiveness of UK MPs during the EU withdrawal process (2016-2019)' explores the extent to which the desires of voters, as expressed by the 2016 referendum, were reflected in the EU withdrawal polices that MPs subsequently supported.  Using a combination of thematic analysis and interviews with MPs, it studies how important constituent preferences were to MPs in relation to the personal and career considerations.  

His thesis was examined by Dr Rick Whitakr (University of Leicester) and Dr Siim Trumm (University of Nottingham).
