Moodle: an online learning environment
The online learning environment, Moodle, gives you access to course materials.
The type of materials available depend on your modules and may include:
- Lecture notes and handouts
- Powerpoint presentations
- Links to reading on the web
- Videos
- Recordings of lectures
- Podcasts
- Interactive learning materials.
The online content and activities may be essential to your studies or may offer additional or alternative ways to gain understanding - your lecturer will tell you what's expected of you in each module.
In addition to the course materials, there are ways to communicate with tutors and other students. Announcements and key course information are often available here so it is a good idea to check often.
Increasingly, assignments are submitted electronically through the online learning environment. You can often revisit and revise your draft up until the point of submission, and in many cases, you will receive feedback through Moodle as well.
There is also a facility within Moodle, called Turnitin, that allows you to check the originality of your work. This is important as part of learning about academic integrity and how to avoid plagiarism (presenting other people's work as your own).
