Friends of University Park

Male and female postgraduate students talking at the Summer House, University Park CampusThe Friends of University Park Group was formed in 2004 to encourage the local community to visit University Park and to enjoy its vast gardens and grounds. Each year we organise a series of events, garden walks, special open days and talks to help visitors enjoy the park. Take a look at this year's programme of events.

Members of the public are welcome to visit University Park, to walk through the grounds and enjoy the gardens and trees at any time. Refreshments are available in a number of areas such as the Lakeside Arts Centre and the Portland Building.

A free detailed University Park Gardens Guide and Tree Walk PDF format is available from any of the gatehouses or from Lakeside Arts Centre.

In 2003 we won our first Green Flag Award for University Park. This is a national award given by the Civic Trust to parks that achieve certain standards of excellence. We have continued to secure them every year since, and more recently have been awarded a Green Flag for both Jubilee and University Park campuses every year since 2012.

The Friends offer guided visits around the gardens and buildings of our award-winning University Park to discover the themed gardens, historic buildings and the people who lived there. These are suitable for horticultural societies, social clubs and other interested organisations.
