Other archaeological sites in the Valsequillo basin include Hueyatlaco, where unifacial and bifacial artefacts in association with megafaunal remains (mastodon, mammoth, camel, horse, bison) were found during the 1960s and early 1970s at excavations led by Cynthia Irwin-Williams. The age of this site has been highly debated with researchers such as Dr Virginia Steen-McIntyre believing the site to be of great antiquity. Hueyatlaco is currently submerged under the Valsequillo reservoir.
