Environmental and Geomorphological SciencesPatterns and Processes in the Biosphere Work is being undertaken across a range of scales from local to global, focusing on issues such as patterns of biodiversity and ecosystem responses to change. Richard Field and Chris Lavers have been working on mapping and modelling patterns of distribution, abundance and biodiversity in a number of environmental contexts and at a range of spatial scales. Jack Rieley has worked on orang-utan populations in Indonesia. In relation to lake systems, there is a current project, led by Suzanne McGowan, on the effects of river diversion at the important wetland site at Attenborough Ponds, funded by Cemex (UK) and the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
