Student Profiles

Lauren Evans is a graduate of the Geography Single Honours BA course.

"There were two main reasons why I wanted to attend Nottingham University. Its reputation as a leading academic constitution and top-ten UK University status greatly appealed to me. I also wanted to live in a community with an active social life. However, living and studying in Nottingham has made me realise the many other benefits. Attending a campus university within close proximity to a major city means that you can be part of a close-knit student community but you also get all the advantages that a city provides.
Many students, living off-campus, including myself, live within walking distance of both the campus and the town centre. The geography course itself is diverse and has provided me with many opportunities to develop what I have learnt at GCSE and A-Level and also allowed me to discover completely new areas such as Ice ages and Medical Geography. The flexibility of the course has also allowed me to study both human and physical aspects of the discipline. Joining Geogsoc and going on several field trips has greatly broadened my friendship circle and is one of the reasons why Geography at Nottingham is such a sociable course. In my spare time I also attend street-jazz, (dancesoc) and play squash. There is something for everyone and plenty of opportunities to get involved!"
