Prospective Undergraduate
Welcome
The School of Geography at the University of Nottingham is one of the strongest both nationally
and internationally. Geography has been taught at Nottingham since the late nineteenth century and
Nottingham’s honours programme in Geography was established over seventy years ago. The School is a
stimulating place in which to learn and research and has a friendly atmosphere. It is based in the
centre of the attractive University Park campus close to the libraries, student union facilities and
halls of residence. It has a strong commitment to active learning with participation by students in
tutorials, class discussions, group activities and field courses. This allows students to develop
the skills required for learning and employment.
The School has an innovative, research-led approach to teaching. Members of academic staff are
leading international researchers in their specialist fields that cover the breadth of human and
physical geography. Full details are provided on our web pages. This research underpins our
teaching, and this research-led approach will make your experience at Nottingham exciting and
challenging, and provide the skills required for a rewarding and successful career.
