Student Profiles

Helen Jenner is a third year Geography Single Honours BA student.

"After looking around all the top universities in the UK, I chose to study geography at Nottingham because both the geography department and the university itself have a great reputation among employers and came highly recommended to me by past students. The course is very well structured and offers a great amount of variety in the first year, giving an extensive insight into the subject at the research front, and studying a range of topics from the geography of the music industry to global climate change.
The other main attraction of Nottingham for me was undeniably the beautiful campus, which has the added benefit of a stunning lake to walk around on those warm summer days! The atmosphere on campus, especially when living in hall, is a friendly and welcoming one, and I felt at home here within the first week of arriving. As well as enjoying the amazing social life, I have spent my time so far involved in various societies, namely the Christian Union and of course, GeogSoc, but with over 150 societies to choose from, I am planning on getting myself involved in plenty more over the next three years. In addition, I try as often as I can to make use of the university’s excellent sports facilities, however in practice this happens less often that it should!"
