Globally, glaciers are exhibiting a trend of mass loss and retreat as a response to contemporary climate change, with around half of the current cryospheric contribution to sea level rise originating from glaciers and ice caps. However, an unknown within these predictions remains the response of plateau icefields to a changing climate.
The aim of my project is to advance understanding of ice-marginal landscape evolution and flow dynamics for plateau icefields over a variety of temporal scales, by repeat surveying of the icefield Hardangerjøkulen and outlet glaciers Midtdalsbreen and Blåisen, Norway.
