Biography
Susan Thompson is an assistant professor in adult nursing at the University of Nottingham, School of Health Sciences based at the Queens Medical Centre. She was a key player in the development of the Graduate Entry Nursing Programme and has held deputy and Course lead positions in the programme. Presently she is a member of a core team developing the new BSc in Health Promotion and Public Health due to commence in Sept 2023, in addition she acts as Admission tutor for that programme. She is also course lead for the Psychosocial Influences in health course on the GEN programme.She is Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education and has held examiner examiner and external adviser positions for undergraduate and post graduate courses in both public health and nursing. She has published internationally on public health and health promotion, graduate entry nursing and health communication.
Prior to joining the University of Nottingham Susan Thompson held a community nursing management position at Mansfield Primary Care Trust and worked as a Health Promotion Specialist for Nottingham PCT, working alongside communities and professionals to tackle health inequalities within inner city Nottingham.
Susan Thompson registered as a adult nurse in 1986 and worked as a staff nurse in the areas of Older People, Gynaecology, General Medicine and Coronary Care.
