Since retirement in 2015, I continue to pursue research as an Emeritus Professor. My research focus is with filamentous fungi, their development from spores to mycelium, their responses to weak acids, and their ability to degrade lignocellulosic materials. In collaboration with Professor Simon Avery and Dr Malcolm Stratford, I explore the molecular basis of weak acid responses and the phenotypic heterogeneity of fungal cells.
