My current research focusses on chemokine gradient formation and the directed migration of dendritic cells in response to these gradients. Dendritic cells are antigen-presenting cells, sitting at the interface between the innate and adaptive immune systems. Upon encountering pathogens, they migrate towards lymph nodes using chemokine gradients to direct them. We develop mechanistic models of cell migration, chemokine gradient formation and related processes, and fit them to experimental data using Bayesian inference.
