Personal support
We think the personal touch is vital. That's why we put resources into in-person support to help you study, develop and feel part of the faculty.
Personal tutor
A member of academic staff who supports your studies and personal development. They are your first point of contact for any issues and can direct you specialist support services.
Peer mentoring
Student volunteers who help first-years settle in and navigate that first year of university life from the best places to study to the best places to get a pizza. It's not compulsory but all new students can sign-up for one.
If you:
- are a first year student who hasn't got a peer mentor but would like one
- are a second or final year student who wants to be a peer mentor
contact your local Education and Student Experience team.
Study buddies
Small groups of new students with similar academic interests are matched early in the first semester. Study buddies can help you get to know other students in your department better, give you some moral support for your first venture to the library, or provide a bunch of friendly faces to study with. It's not compulsory but all new students can sign-up.
