Ways to study Languages
We offer single, combined, and joint honours courses for language students. They can study, one, two or three languages. Some languages can be combined with other subjects. All courses have optional placement modules, and most offer a year abroad. We also have courses which allow beginners languages, which do not require a language A level.
Undergraduate modern languages courses
Study three languages
You can choose three from post-A level French, German, Russian, Portuguese or Spanish, or two post-A level languages along with a beginners' language.
Modern Language Studies
Combine language(s) with another subject
We love people who love languages and having studied a language previously isn't a prerequisite for all our courses.
