The full STAGES Hubble Space Telescope mosaic is made up of 80 images taken with the Advanced Camera for Surveys, and covers an area approximately the size of the full moon on the sky.   When stitched together digitally, the final image consists of over 5 billion pixels and contains images of over 60 000 galaxies.
