Rhianna's research
The development of therapeutic agents designed to enhance insulin secretion, thus broadening the range of treatments available for diabetic patients.
During my bachelor’s degree in science, I enjoyed doing research in pharmaceutical development and diagnosis. I went on to do my master’s degree studying drug discovery and pharmaceutical science. Realising my passion for drug development research, I applied for the PhD DTP program.
The best part of my PhD is the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, based in both University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.
The collaboration between the two institutions provides amazing training opportunities. I can attend additional courses unique to each university. The collaborative nature of my PhD allows me to network with a wide range of students and academics, maximising my research ideas and laboratory techniques.
The completion of lab rotations during the first year of study is invaluable to ensure your chosen PhD project is right for you.
After my PhD I would love to continue to explore drug discovery in an industrial research environment. My ambition is to be a part of a team that designs, develops and markets new drugs that help improve the quality of life.
