Meet the team

Our Executive Education team are here to provide you with the support you need to fully understand the learning and developmental needs of you and your organisation.

From identifying specific requirements, developing ideas and solutions and delivering professional programmes and workshops, we will work closely with you to provide a professional, informative and also engaging learning experience.

As a team, we have extensive experience of delivering executive programmes and world-class customer-focused training solutions. We also work closely with academics, business leaders and entrepreneurs who provide the underpinning expertise that goes into our programmes.

Dr Luis Torres

Director of Executive Education

Luis is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Executive MBA programmes. He is also a Researcher in Residence at Connected Places Catapult, co-founder of Sustaina Value in Chile, and Associate Editor for Safety Science. He worked in the University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus (China) for 2.5 years before joining NUBS UK in 2020.

Luis has worked for over 15 years for organisations in Chile, Spain, China, and the UK. He has led client-focussed management consulting and learning solutions for public and private sector organisations in several industries including manufacturing, finance, logistics, energy, agriculture, and retail, among others. He has designed and delivered executive education programmes for middle and top management teams including the C-Suite and the Board of Directors of large and medium-sized companies.

Luis’ expertise lies on the governance, risk, and management of sustainable organisations. Key themes in his work are corporate social responsibility/ESG, labour inequalities, and compliance management. His projects have been funded by institutions such as the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Health Data Research UK, the Innovation Launchpad Network+, and the Transforming Foundation Industries Network+.

Luis holds a PhD in Management, a MA in Environmental Law and Sustainability, a MSc in Human Resources, and a BSc (Hons) in Organisational Psychology.

Nick Proverbs

Senior Operations Manager

Nick joined the University in 2023. Nick has worked in Education for the past 9 years focusing on Apprenticeships. He specialises in relationship building, analytical thinking and problem solving. Nick implemented a Microsoft Dynamics CRM system in his last role creating web-based solutions and the syncing of systems to drive automation and produce administration efficiencies. Nick has extensive experience working with key internal and external stakeholders at a strategic level locally and nationally to ensure continued collaboration in meeting the strategic goals of the organisations he works for.

Nick has in-depth knowledge of the Nottinghamshire and wider business communities and the types of training that will benefit their businesses. Nick will be utilising these relationships and experience to strengthen business networks and help grow Executive Education both in the UK and tri-campus.

Dr Na Han

Engagement Manager

Na joined the Executive Education team in 2023. She is an esteemed professional with a PhD in Engineering and dual MSc degrees in Engineering and Leadership and Management. Her tenure at the University of Nottingham includes roles as a Project Executive for collaborative research and later as a Business Development Manager for advanced professional training programmes at Research and Innovation Department. With an impressive portfolio, Na has successfully established over 40 tailored professional training programmes for corporate clients in sectors ranging from automotive and finance to education, pharma, and healthcare.

Na’s expertise spans diverse areas, with a specific focus on developing commercial training programs designed for the dynamic Asian market. Her aptitude for delivering customized solutions enables seamless engagement with Asian partners, fostering valuable connections. Na’s proficiency also extends to effectively managing training programs and strategically promoting research priorities through engaging with professional clients. Her contributions have bridged the gap between academia and the professional world, facilitating collaborative research projects, student internships, joint venture partnerships, and consultancy services, strengthening the ties between the University of Nottingham and our esteemed international partners.

Having worked in universities for more than 20 years, Sue brings a wealth of experience in delivering executive level education programmes. Sue joined the University of Nottingham in 2007 and has worked in a number of departments, joining the Executive Education Team in 2019.

Sue has comprehensive experience of developing and managing educational programmes within Higher Education through effective internal and external stakeholder relationship management and specific expertise in programme management. Sue is passionate about offering excellent customer service and a highly professional educational experience. She effectively manages the Executive Education processes and stakeholder relationships, from enquiries to the development of programme proposals, bids, contract and financial management through to the execution and running of open and custom programmes.

Nicola Flemming

Nicola joined us in 2020 from the University of Sheffield where she provided project and administrative support for the Partnerships and Regional Engagement team. Nicola has a background in employer engagement and the apprenticeship process, placing high value on communication and ensuring strong customer relations.

Nicola’s dual role at the university sees her leading on programme management within the Business School’s Executive Education team, including the Help to Grow: Management programme, and the Executive MBA Senior Leader Degree Apprenticeship programme.

Sam Rosen

Operations Officer

Sam joined the University of Nottingham in 2015 as a PhD researcher and has worked as an Operations Officer for the Executive Education team since 2022. Sam has a background in linguistics and web editing and is responsible for updating the Executive Education webpages, posting social media content and supporting the rest of the team in organising and delivering our courses.

Sam also has an interest in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and represents the Executive Education team on the Nottingham University Business School Athena Swan working group.
