The next visiting speaker event in the Department of American and Canadian Studies will take place on Wednesday 4 December at 5pm in Highfield A1. This roundtable will feature three scholars discussing their research in relation to the fields of visual culture and American Studies:
• Eithne Quinn (University of Manchester) – ‘In the Heat of the Night (Norman Jewison, 1967) and Racial Politics in Post-Civil Rights Act Hollywood’
• Stephanie Lewthwaite (University of Nottingham) – ‘Contemporary New Mexican Art and the Politics of Colonialism’
• Jennifer Smyth (University of Warwick) – ‘Histories of Resistance: Fred Zinnemann and Hollywood Cinema, 1936-1977’
