Charlotte Beasant, third year American Studies and History, won Outstanding Volunteer award at the Student Volunteer Centre University of Nottingham annual awards for her work on two widening participation projects. One of them was an American Studies primary discovery day which she designed, developed and delivered to 90 ten year olds from one of the most socio-economically challenged schools in Nottingham city.
This project has been so successful in its pilot year it will become an annual event and continue to raise the profile and awareness of American and Canadian Studies to a primary school aged-audience.
