Co-Director of the Centre for Research in Race and Rights is awarded Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship 

After a number of years in University and cross-university roles, including as Associate Dean of the Graduate School  and founding Director of the Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership,  Professor of American Studies Sharon Monteith has been awarded a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship for three years beginning September 2017 https://www.leverhulme.ac.uk/funding/grant-schemes/major-research-fellowships

Her project is The Civil Rights Movement: A Literary History, an archival and interdisciplinary study that will extend civil rights historiography and include the recovery of neglected activists, activist-writers and texts.
