ISIR Grant Success

Dr Julian Stringer, Director of the Institute for Screen Industries Research, has secured an award under the Arts and Humanities ‘UK-China Creative Industries Partnership Development Grants’ scheme.

The UK-China Creative Challenge: Co-Designing a Hybrid “Creature” as an Asset for Shanghai’s Performing Arts and Screen Industries’, will run until August 2019. The overall value of the project is £43,603, with £21,733 being offered by the AHRC and the rest by a consortium of academic and industry partners. The initiative is led by Dr Stringer (UK PI), Professor Li Benqian, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China PI), Bryan Clark, Falmouth University (UK CI), and Professor Zhang Lei, Communication University of China (China CI).

Activities include an exploratory workshop on ‘resonant character design’ in Shanghai in June 2019. Partners include BLAAD (formerly Dexter China), Final Frontier, Lakeside Arts, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Xinhua Net as well as the Hollywood screenwriter Ryan Rowe.
