I began my career at Nottingham as Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures (French) before moving to Cultural, Media and Visual Studies in 2024. My own academic formation followed a similar trajectory; I read Modern and Medieval Languages as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge before taking an MPhil in European Literature and Culture, and it was in this context I developed my interests in film and theory. I undertook my PhD with Dr Laura McMahon at Cambridge, and continued to a Junior Research Fellowship there at Corpus Christi College.
Between undergraduate and postgraduate study, I worked for several years as a feature writer at the Independent and Independent on Sunday newspapers.
