To celebrate the launch of the new issue of Nottingham French Studies on ‘The Politics of Idleness’, we will be hosting an event looking at conceptions of work and idleness in modern and contemporary France. Guest editor Audrey Evrard (Fordham University, New York) will reflect on narratives of non-work in French documentary film, while Jeremy Lane and John Marks (University of Nottingham) will talk about critiques of work and the idea of idleness as an active stance of political and aesthetic resistance.

This event is free and refreshments will be available. Please contact fiveleaves.bookshopevents@gmail.com to reserve a place.
