CoDEV officially came to an end in March 2018, however, we hope that the collaborations formed will continue.

CoDEV partners Dr Janet Daly and Dr Suresh Kuchipudi were invited to speak at GARAD 2018 in Vietnam.

Unfortunately, Zika virus has arrived in India - on 15 May 2017, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare-Government of India (MoHFW) reported three laboratory-confirmed cases of Zika virus disease in the state of Gujarat, India.

September 2016

Emerging Viruses 2016, organised by CoDEV partners at the Viral Pseudotype Unit, took place on 12 September 2016 in Oxford UK. The symposium was co-hosted with the annual influenza conference - Influenza 2016 - and focussed on applied research on surveillance and control strategies for emerging viruses.

August 2016

The International Workshop on Sustainable Animal Production - Recent Trends and Future Challenges in Disease Diagnosis held on 11-13 July 2016 is featured in the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University August newsletter. The workshop was a great success with morning lectures and afternoon practical sessions allowing plenty of interaction for the 20 attendees.

Wellcome Trust Early-career fellowships for researchers in India: These enable postdoctoral researchers to carry out biomedical research in India. Fellowships are tenable for five years and provide personal support of up to INR13.44 million per year. Closing date: 06 Jun 16

Funding announcement from the British Council:

The Newton-Bhabha PhD placements programme will sponsor UK and Indian PhD scholars to spend a period of their study (3 to 6 months) in Indian and UK higher education institutions taking place between April 2016 and December 2016.

The deadline for applications is 7th December 2015. More information

Respiratory Viruses 2015 (organised by CoDEV partners) was held on 7th October 2015 in Oxford, UK.

It is with great sadness that members of the CoDEV team pass on the news of the untimely death of our collaborator Dr Elankumaran. His University have posted a memorium message on their website. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and close colleagues.

Emerging Viruses 2015 was attended by around 50 researchers from the UK, India, Africa, the USA, Croatia, Italy and Spain.

Emerging Viruses 2015 (a conference organised by CoDEV partners) will be held at the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary Medicine and Science on 27th-29th July, 2015. This promises to be a friendly forum for sharing the latest developments in the field of veterinary and zoonotic emerging viruses. We look forward to seeing many of our colleagues next month!

  • The International Conference on Host-Pathogen Interactions was held in Hyderabad on 12–15 July, 2014. CoDEV partners Nigel Temperton and Simon Scott both won prizes for their presentations. The organisers have posted lots of photographs of speakers on their website.
  • The conference on Livestock Diseases Affecting Livelihood Options and Global Trade - Strategies and Solutions was held in Chennai from 17–19 July, 2014. For a brief summary of the meeting, see the TANUVAS August newsletter.
