Following its inception in 2010 as a small scale study day held at Nottingham University Hospitals, the Symposium on Primary Breast Cancer in Older Women has now become a biennial event, the only one of its kind in the UK. Since 2013, it has been hosted by The University of Nottingham under the auspices of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG).

With an overarching goal of optimising the management of primary breast cancer in older women, the event's aims are:
We welcome members of multidisciplinary clinical and research teams with an interest in this area, including breast surgeons, oncologists, geriatricians, pathologists, clinical nurse specialists, researchers, and their trainees, as well as patient advocates.
Past delegates also include pharmacists, medical physicists, patients and their carers.
The programme includes lectures by external and local faculty with a number of interactive discussions, sharing of patients’ experiences, and abstract presentations.
