“Photography of Victims”
In early summer 2019, CSPI hosted a conference on the ideological power of photography. We focused on photographs that frame people as “victims”, across the 20th century to the present. We used the lens of multi-directional memory to explore how historical photographic traditions affect the way in which we both take and view victim photos today.
