The call for casting is open for an exciting and ambitious community performance on Saturday 21 November as part of the Being Human 2015 Festival of Humanities
In 1969 B.S. Johnson’s ‘The Unfortunates’ was published as a ‘book in a box’ with each of its 27 chapters being loose and, other than ‘First’ and ‘Last’, available to be read in any order. It is set in a city that though never named, is clearly identified through its detailed description of landmarks, streets, restaurants and pubs. The city is Nottingham.
On Saturday 21 November, 54 Bryan Johnsons will take their place in 27 different city-centre locations: bars, bookshops, bus stops and a host of the finest nooks and crannies that Nottingham has to offer. Your audience will be given a map to help them traverse their way across the city to discover all the Bryans, and to navigate their way through this wonderful novel in any way that they wish.
