The University is making some changes to the Core Bursary from 2016. These changes apply to all students whatever your year of entry to the University.

Instalments

In the academic year 2016/17 the University Core Bursary will be paid in three instalments, one each term, rather than the previous format of paying in two instalments.

Payment dates will be on or around:

  • Friday 4 November 2016
  • Friday 20 January 2017
  • Friday 12 May 2017

Our other undergraduate bursary schemes will also move to three instalments (with the exception of Nottingham Potential Bursary for Summer Schools). The affected schemes are: Nottingham Potential Bursary, Non-traditional Route Bursary, Dependants Bursary, Lincoln and Nottingham Bursary and the Care Leavers’ Bursary.

Applications

From Monday 26 September, instead of applying through the portal you should apply using the Core Bursary application website. If you wish to apply in the meantime you can do so, once you have completed online registration for 2016/17, via this direct link.

The outcome of your application will be visible at the Core Bursary application website from the start of term.

Exceptions: Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) students (in their first year of study only), PGCE students and RIBA Part 2 Architecture (K10I and K10X) are also eligible for the Core Bursary but are unable to apply via the above link. Instead, please apply using this online form.

Other changes

There will also be changes to the way we calculate the household income figure used to assess the Core Bursary awards for the following groups of students:

  • Social Work students: we will no longer include the NHS bursary when calculating household income
  • PGCE students: we will no longer include the Teacher Training Bursary when calculating household income
