Let's be clear on consent

Clear on consent 714x250

The University of Nottingham has been working with the Students’ Union to raise awareness of sexual consent among students and staff.

We are launching our ‘Let’s be Clear on Consent’ campaign, which aims to get you thinking and talking about sexual consent by tackling and dispelling common myths and misconceptions.

The University has developed an information guide to advise and support you, with information about where to get help from the University and local services. Download the booklet (pdf).

This will be an ongoing campaign throughout the year – you may have picked up a copy of our Clear on Consent guide during Welcome Week. During the next two weeks, information stalls will be available on each campus where you can pick up a guide if you haven’t already, and get information and advice.

  • Tuesday 15 November, 12-2pm in The Barn, Sutton Bonington
  • Tuesday 22 November, 12-2pm on C Floor, Portland Building, University Park
  • Thursday 24 November, 12-2pm in the Atrium, Exchange Building, Jubilee Campus
  • Friday 25 November, 12-2pm outside the Student Service Centre, B floor, QMC

We will also host an event on Tuesday 22 November, 5-7pm in the Senate Chamber, Trent Building*. Join us for short films and discussions including how to report sexual assault and access local support. There will be a range of internal and external services including Nottinghamshire Police available on the night to answer any questions. Everyone is welcome – just turn up. Food and refreshments will be available.

Katie Leach, Equal Opportunities and Welfare Officer in the Students' Union, said: "Your safety is hugely important to your Students’ Union, and we want everyone to have access to all the information you need about sexual consent, why it’s important, and what to do if you’re concerned. The ‘Let’s be Clear on Consent’ campaign is our way of helping everyone here at the University to understand what consent is, why it matters and how we can support you in a time of need.  Look out for us at all the events going on as part of the campaign!"

Keep a lookout on our HealthyU webpages for future events and more opportunities to pick up a guide later in the year.

If you have been affected by rape or sexual assault please visit our Let’s be Clear on Consent webpage to access information about where to go for help and support.

*Please note: this event was previously scheduled for the Studio Live, however it will now take place in the Senate Chamber, Trent Building.
