There have been a number of changes to your Students’ Union since the March update, with many more to come. Read on to see what’s new and what’s just over the horizon.

What’s new?

We’re now into phase four of the Union Refresh and the most notable change is the relocation of the University Park Central Service Centre (previously in Cherry Tree Lodge) into the Portland Building. You’ll find it on C Floor – just opposite the Welcome Zone and where NatWest used to be. It’s already open and receiving students so come and say hi.

The Malone Atrium was also opened on Tuesday 17 April and is a space for you to relax with your friends between lectures, or catch up on your work.

And don’t forget that the Portland Hill steps and Djanogly Terrace are now open. When summer finally arrives you’ll be able to use the space to socialise or revise in the sun. It will also be used to host a range of events – last week it played host to Nottingham and Malaysia Day and plans for the future include varsity screenings, BBQs and picnics.

What’s next?

With Cherry Tree Lodge now vacant, specialist services (Disability and Academic Support, Funding and Financial Support, Visa and Immigration, Sponsorship, and Fees) will be moving into the old Student Services space after it has been refurbished. Until then you’ll be able to find them on floors C and D of Portland Building, where they’ve always been.

From Tuesday 29 May, C11 (the lecture theatre on Floor C) will start undergoing a transformation into a new dance studio and four bookable meeting rooms. The space is expected to be finished by the end of June so will be ready when you get back in September. There will also be five more bookable meeting rooms in the SU Advice space, giving you more privacy when you need it.

Over the summer we’ll be working on the Get Involved Zone on Floor C. The current West Concourse Lounge will undergo a makeover, becoming a one-stop shop for societies, sports, volunteering and events. You’ll be able to find Karnival, TEC, the Education Network and the Representation Development Team here.

Your Students’ Union are looking forward to unveiling these changes to you in September.
