Gym 'Quiet Time' Trial

Treadmill

From 18th May, UoN Sport will be trialling set "quiet times" at University of Nottingham Fitness Suites to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for all to exercise in.

This will make the experience more comfortable for members with autism, high levels of social anxiety and also those who prefer working out in a quieter environment.

How will it be a ‘quiet hour’?

  • It will be implemented by our reception and fitness teams;
  • No loud music over the fitness suite speakers;
  • Turning off of all public TV screens within the fitness suites;
  • Dimming of lights (if it is safe to do so);
  • Avoidance of public announcements (unless there is an emergency);
  • A polite request that all fitness users work out as quietly and respectively as possible.

The scheme will be in place:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am - 12 (midday)
  • Saturdays and Sundays from 12 - 1.30pm
