Student ID numbers for students in the UK are changing this January.
For the majority of students, ‘1’ will be added to the beginning of your student ID number. Although your University student ID card will display your old student ID number, it will continue to work as normal.
Please use your new student ID number from January 2019 on documents and forms if requested by the University. However, we will easily be able to identify you if you forget to use your new number. Exam Invigilators will brief you on the use of student ID numbers if you are taking exams in January 2019.
While the above applies to the majority of students, the change to your ID number is different if you are one of the students highlighted below:
• I am a Nursing or Midwifery student in the School of Health Sciences.
You will be given further information regarding your student ID number in February 2019.
• I usually study in China/Malaysia and have started in the UK from September 2018 for part of my study programme.
You have been sent specific instructions regarding your student ID number and student ID card.
• I usually study in the UK and previously went to study in China/Malaysia.
I returned to study in the UK from September 2018. You have been sent specific instructions regarding your student ID number and student ID card.
• I usually study in the UK and started in China or Malaysia from September 2018 for part of my study programme.
You have been given a student ID card in China/Malaysia showing your new student ID number. Please bring this card back with you when you return to the UK.
• I usually study in the UK and will be starting in China or Malaysia from January 2019 for part of my study programme.
'1' will be placed in front of your student ID number from January 2019. Please take your student ID card with you to China/Malaysia as you will not be provided with a new ID card.
