Library buildings will remain open with extended opening hours until the end of term, before closing for the winter break.
Library buildings and the library helpline will close from Monday 21 December – Sunday 3 January, however you will still have access to online collections, resources and guidance materials.
The Denis Arnold Music Library and Manuscripts and Special Collections will close from Friday 18 December - Sunday 3 January.
Staying in Nottingham?
You can continue to borrow books, book study space and use other facilities until libraries close for the winter break on Sunday 20 December.
To make sure books are available in time, please place requests at least two working days in advance. If you have already returned home, books cannot be sent out by post.
Before our libraries close, or you leave Nottingham, please:
- borrow books that you will need during the break
- return books you no longer need
- cancel requested books that aren't yet available
- check you are able to access any e-resources you require via NUsearch and report any issues
Will I need to return books during the break?
Your library loans will continue to auto-renew every day unless requested by someone else, so keep an eye on your account. If your book is requested, you won’t be expected to return it until the start of term on Monday 11 January. Any fines for books requested during this time will be waived.
You can check the status of your loans, requests and fines by logging into NUsearch.
Travelling home?
If you are continuing your education from home, you can still access many of our resources and services online. From home, you can:
