Additional financial support funds have been made available to students.
Over the course of the pandemic, the university has made substantial contributions to our student hardship funds. Following a recent government announcement, the Office for Students has provided an additional £419,000 to the university's existing funds.
Of the £419,000 total, £109,000 has been set aside to support financial hardship. The university will be prioritising the allocation of these funds to students who have been assessed by the Student Loans Company to have a household income of zero (in line with our Access and Participation plan). The university is also matching this allocation, resulting in a £218,000 total to support financial hardship.
The remaining £310,000 will be allocated to support hardship resulting from rented accommodation. The university is relaunching its Covid-19 Crisis Fund to offer help to all students struggling financially due to rent and essential living expenses as a result of the pandemic. All University of Nottingham students will be able to apply for the Covid-19 Crisis Fund (even if they have applied before) to request a non-repayable grant of up to £1,500. Please note, however, that applications will be assessed and allocations will only be granted to students with less than £1,000 available to them to try to ensure that support is directed to students in more immediate financial difficulty.
