Professor Jane Norman appointed as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham.
Professor Jane Norman has been appointed the eighth President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham.
Currently the university’s Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Norman will take up her new role from Wednesday 1 January 2025, taking over from Professor Shearer West who left the university last month.
Council approved Professor Norman’s appointment following a unanimous recommendation from the panel, consisting of members of Council, Senate and the University of Nottingham Students’ Union.
Jane is an extremely experienced senior leader in higher education, holding senior management positions at the universities of Glasgow, Bristol and Edinburgh before joining the University of Nottingham as Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 2022.
It is in this role that she has led Future Nottingham, a major change programme that will enable Nottingham to be the best university it can be, focusing on academic areas of excellence, fostering creativity, accountability and collaboration, and ensuring sustainable excellence into the future.
The panel feels confident that Jane possesses the strategic vision, personal energy, and leadership qualities to guide our institution into the next phase of its success.
