The exam period is approaching and sometimes unforeseen events beyond your control may affect your performance. Our extenuating circumstances (EC) policy is in place to support you.
If you are considering submitting an EC claim, we strongly recommend speaking to a member of your faculty Support and Wellbeing team before doing so. They will be able to offer you advice and guide you through the process while signposting to any wellbeing services you may find useful.
Claims must be submitted prior to, or within five working days of, your exam. However, please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the policy before making a claim.
Please note, if you submit a new EC claim or Coursework Extension Request Form (CERF) after end of term on Friday 13 December, it may not be considered until after the university reopens on Thursday 2 January 2025.
If you have any further questions, you can find a comprehensive set of EC FAQs via the Student Enquiry Centre.
