If you’re moving out of a shared house this year, make sure you’re aware of how to correctly dispose of any waste, bulky or unwanted items.
It’s good to start thinking about waste disposal as early as possible to avoid being caught out at the end of term. Not only are large household waste deposits unsightly, but they can pose significant safety and environmental issues.
Below are some resources that may help with waste disposal as your prepare to vacate your accommodation for the summer.
Pack for Good
Before disposing of something in your general waste, consider if someone else might be able to make use of it. Pack for Good allows you to donate your unwanted items to the British Heart Foundation. They accept a range of items including clothes, shoes, bags, books, electrical items, crockery and more.
There are 12 donation banks in and around the Lenton, Radford, Dunkirk and Beeston areas. Find out more about Pack For Good and locate your nearest donation bank.
Leftover food
All unopened, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at points on campus. There’s one outside SPAR on Level B of Portland Building, and one at Bonington SV reception.
There are also food banks in and around the city.
Household waste
You might find that your household waste starts to build up towards the end of term, so it’s worth planning ahead and disposing of things you don’t need now. Make sure you get the right wheelie bin out on the right day – you can check your bin calendar.
If you live within the Nottingham City constituency and need to dispose of bulky waste, you can book a free bulky waste collection.
