Improved access to study space in libraries

Wednesday, 21 October 2020
Libraries staff are working hard to provide you with the best possible access to study spaces, both within library buildings and elsewhere.

Click and Study

Since launching the new  Click and Study study space booking system at the start of session, the Libraries team have continually reviewed both usage of the spaces and your feedback.

Following an initial review at the start of October, the booking limit for the library study spaces was raised from six to twenty-one hours a week. Following a further review, Libraries are increasing the limit again to provide even greater access to study spaces in library buildings.

From midday on Thursday 22 October, you will be able to place two three-hour bookings a day. This increases the amount of study space bookings per week from 21 to 42 hours.

It is important that access to study space is safe and fair and Libraries will continue to review usage of the spaces weekly. It may be necessary to make further changes including potentially lowering the limit, if needed. Please keep checking the Libraries' website for the latest updates.

Help us keep our community safe by following these safety measures in our libraries:

  • Wear a face covering even whilst sat at your study space (some exceptions apply)
  • Keep two metres distance from others
  • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly
  • Clean surfaces and equipment before and after use
  • Follow signage and one-way systems
  • Follow isolation and reporting advice

Libraries extra

In addition to bookable spaces in our library buildings, Libraries staff have been working with colleagues from across the University to find and prepare a range of new study spaces for students.

These spaces will be managed by Libraries and will be rearranged and repurposed for individual, socially distanced study space. These spaces will be available for walk-in access only and will not be bookable.

More information on the location of the spaces and how to access them will be available soon.
