Read Community Engagement's top tips for keeping your property, belongings and yourself safe over the winter break.
Keeping your property safe
- Ensure all your doors and windows are locked before leaving your property, and secure side gates in applicable
- Take valuables with you when travelling home for Christmas, and avoid leaving expensive items or gifts on display
- Use light and heating timers to give the impression of someone being home, while preventing damp and frozen pipes
Staying safe on journeys
- Inform those close to you about your travel plans, and keep your phone charged so you can be tracked
- Try to travel in daylight hours, avoid travelling alone late at nights and use well-lit areas
- Save important numbers: for non-emergencies call 101, and for emergencies call 999
Celebrating in the city
