The Life in Halls briefings are an opportunity for students in halls to get their concerns heard and questions answered directly by senior staff at the University.
Life in halls is challenging right now. Students new to the city and the University are starting their studies and settling into their new homes while adapting to student life during pandemic. These briefings are designed to inform and reassure new students, as well as giving them space to highlight the problems they’re facing.
The Life in Halls briefings will be hosted in Microsoft Teams. Each meeting will have a Chair, a chat moderator and a team of panellists – which will always include the respective Hall Manager. Students will be able to submit questions anonymously online via a form prior to and during the event. Students can attend the meeting, but should not feel obliged to use a microphone and/or webcam. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions during the live event – on camera and via chat.
These sessions are being arranged on a hall-by-hall basis as quickly as possible to respond to the COVID-19 situation. You will be sent a link via email to the briefing for your hall once your session is organised. There is a 300-person upper limit on attendees. Should a meeting exceed 300 people, a further session will be organised.
You can find the schedule of confirmed sessions below, we will update this article as new sessions are confirmed so remember to bookmark this page and come back to find your Life in Halls Briefing session. Submit questions for the sessions anonymously via this form.
