The university has set up a new Covid-19 testing hub for students living out in the community.
The service is based at Thomas Helwys Church Hall, in Church Street, Lenton and will operate for bookable appointments only. The hub will be staffed by University of Nottingham employees with strict social distancing and safety measures will be in place.
The testing hub will be open 12pm-4pm Monday to Thursday from Monday 1 February. Please bring your student card when attending your appointment.
The initiative has been developed with the support of local Public Health and Nottingham City Council colleagues who have encouraged us to make our asymptomatic testing as accessible as possible for students.
The university’s asymptomatic testing service detects the virus through a simple saliva sample and is designed to help control outbreaks caused by asymptomatic transmission among staff and students. These tests are highly accurate and can tell if people are in the early stages of infection. It is encouraged that students take advantage of this service and get tested regularly - at least once a week.
What happens after?
Once you have taken the test you should limit your contact with others as much as possible while waiting for the results.
If you receive a negative result, the government says that you do not need to self-isolate (unless otherwise indicated).
If you receive a positive result, you should self-isolate and should take a confirmatory NHS (Pillar 2) test and follow the relevant guidance in doing so. You must also notify the university under the Isolate, Notify, Test process so you can be supported during this period.
If the NHS test comes back positive, then you should continue to isolate for the required period. If the test result is negative, you do not need to self-isolate.
If you have any questions, please refer to our FAQs on our testing page.
