The Creative Academy will provide an introduction to the breadth of careers available in the creative industries and will feature talks by inspirational thought-leaders in the creative sector, workshops with visiting creatives, and opportunities to engage with regional cultural sector leaders.Creative Pathways Graduate Internships will be introduced across seven of the city’s cultural partners – City Arts, Dance4, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham Playhouse, Nonsuch, UNESCO City of Literature and Lakeside Arts — with applications opening on Monday 10 June 2019.

The programme and internships begin in early October 2019 — with the first Creative Academy event on 15 October 2019. Organisers will be working closely with the University’s Widening Participation and Careers & Employability teams to identify eligible students.

The Internships are exclusively for students from the priority groups listed below. This is to improve social mobility and to ensure that students from backgrounds underrepresented in Higher Education can fully access the opportunities available. To be able to apply, you must be a home fee paying student at the University of Nottingham, want to gain practical experience to support your future career development in the creative and cultural sector, and meet one or more of the criteria below:

• Have been in local authority care
• Have a declared disability
• Be from a black and minority ethnic group
• Be a mature student (21 or over at the start of your course)
• Be a young carer
• Be under 25 and estranged from your family
• Be in receipt of a core bursary
• Be in receipt of a Nottingham Potential Bursary
• Be a refugee
• Have a home address in a neighbourhood where participation in Higher Education is low. This can be checked by:
  • o Entering your home postcode on the OfS website - a 1 or a 2 indicated in the ‘POLAR4 young participation quintile’ column indicates that your home address is in a neighbourhood that meets the above criteria

Yes. They are paid at a rate of £8.57 per hour + holiday pay.
