Nottingham Nightline is recruiting for listening volunteers to train during the autumn term. They are looking for people who can listen empathetically and non-judgementally, and understand the core values of the Nightline service, but we don’t expect anyone to be an expert right away.
Nightline is an anonymous, confidential, non-judgemental, and non-advisory listening and information service, run by students for students. The service is available for both calls and instant messages from 7pm-8am throughout term time, and 24/7 during fresher’s week and exams. Our phone number is 0115 8514 958 and can be found on the back of your student card. See our website or visit us at the discovery fairs for more information.
Training will involve 6 weekly training sessions and 3 whole cohort sessions, where you will be taught the active listening skills required to volunteer. Volunteering is a great chance to gain some amazing life skills, as well as meet lots of new people through training, volunteering, and our regular socials!
Applications will be open from Saturday 18 September to Friday 1 October, and interviews will be held on Wednesday 6, Thursday 7 and Friday 8 October.
Apply now.
Nightline also offers active listening training to individuals, groups, and societies, teaching the important skills of empathy, sincerity, and acceptance. Contact nightline@exmail.nottingham.ac.uk or lpyad6@nottingham.ac.uk for more information.
