University sports teams have secured 11 national championship titles.
University athletes have taken home 11 championship wins in the team finals at the national university championships - BUCS Big Wednesday.
Winning teams included Wheelchair Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Table Tennis, Men’s and Women’s Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Fencing, Women’s Water Polo, Men’s Tennis, Women’s Badminton and Women’s Lacrosse.
Taking place at Loughborough University on Wednesday 19 March, the event saw over 2,000 of the UK's top student athletes compete for national titles across 16 sports. 31 University of Nottingham teams qualified for finals - more than any other university.
The university had a further 7 National Championship runners up in American Football, Men’s and Women’s Football, Men’s Water Polo, Men’s Badminton, Women’s Squash, and Men’s Lacrosse.
In the Trophy and Vase competition, Tennis Women’s 2s, Fencing Men’s 2s, Women’s Table Tennis 2s, Men’s Rugby League 1s, Netball 1s all emerged victorious.
