The beginning of term is a great time to meet new friends and enjoy all the events and activities on offer. However, in doing so, we must ensure we’re keeping ourselves and those around us safe.
Regular testing
We're asking all staff and students to take weekly asymptomatic tests through our in-house Asymptomatic Testing Service, even if you have been fully vaccinated.
Jonathan Ball, Professor of Molecular Virology, said: “Unfortunately, we know the virus is still out there. It’s still infecting people and that’s why it’s important, even when levels are low, that you continue to get tested”. He explains more in the following video.
Visit our testing webpage to familiarise yourself with opening times and locations.
Anyone with any specific needs can get in touch with the testing team on testingservice@nottingham.ac.uk.
Getting your Covid-19 vaccine dose
You can book your second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, eight to twelve weeks after receiving your first dose.
Having two doses leads to a stronger, better immune response from your body and longer-lasting protection. If you haven’t already, you can book your second Covid-19 vaccination dose online.
If you had your first dose through your GP surgery, you’ll be contacted when it’s time to book your second dose. If you cannot book appointments online, you can call 119 free of charge.
Getting your second jab is essential to ensuring the vaccine is at its most effective and to maximise protection, especially against new variants, so it's important to get your second dose as soon as you are offered it.
Please remember there is a chance you might still get or spread Covid-19 even if you have been fully vaccinated, so it's important to follow the general rules to keep everyone safe and to get tested regularly to ensure we minimise the spread of the virus.
