Services on campus may close or have reduced opening hours over the summer break.
The Spring term finishes on Friday 21 June and the 2024/25 academic year will start on Monday 23 September. For more information on university closure dates, visit the key dates webpage.
Facilities on campus will experience reduced opening hours during the summer break and may even close for some of this period.

Student Services
The following student service centres will remain open throughout the summer:
- University Park
Monday-Friday, 9-5
- Jubilee campus
Monday-Friday, 9-5
- Queen's Medical Centre
Monday-Friday, 9-5
- Sutton Bonington Campus
Monday-Friday, 9-4
Derby student service centre will close on Friday 28 June for the vacation period and will reopen on Monday 27 August at 9am.
Sport Centres
Sport centre opening hours remain unchanged over the summer period, with the exception of Monday 1 July when all centres will be closed for staff training.

Hopper buses
The term timetable will run up to and including Friday 21 June.
From Saturday 22 June services will enter non-term-time schedules with the following changes:
- 901 and 902 timetables do not change
- 903 and 904 will switch to non-term timetables
- 906 will not run during the summer
The term timetable will recommence on Monday 23 September.

The 34/34C bus
From Monday 24 June the 34/34C will run on its university holiday timetable. Services will run every 30 minutes Monday-Friday throughout the summer break, with no services operating over the weekends.

Libraries
Our libraries will remain open throughout the summer to support those working on assessments over the break.
24/7 opening hours will end on after Friday 21 June and all libraries will enter vacation opening hours from Saturday 22 June.

Off-campus resources and spaces
If you’re away from campus this summer these resources might help:
- Library Access - a browser extension for easy access to online resources.
- Digital scan requests - for copies of printed materials (within copyright restrictions).
- Postal loans - if you want a physical copy we can send it directly to you if you meet the eligibility criteria.
- SCONUL Access - if you need somewhere to study closer to home you can sign up to use other university libraries across the country.
Returning books
Don’t forget to return any books to any of our libraries before you leave. You can return books by post, via our 24/7 book boxes outside libraries or through our self-service machines.
If you’re taking books with you, check your email regularly to see if these have been requested and are due for return.
