This is your city. Have your say on the local issues that affect you.
Exercise your democratic right and vote in the local elections that are due to take place on Thursday 4 May. No matter how you vote or who you vote for, have your say on your future.
As a university student, you can vote in local elections at both your home address and term-time address provided you are registered to vote at both.
Why vote in Nottingham?
In local elections you’ll vote for the councillors who will sit on your local council. Councils usually run local services and amenities such as leisure centres, libraries, schools, street cleaning and rubbish collections. They manage the services that impact you on a daily basis and if you want to contact someone about any of these issues, it’s the councillors you’ll need to speak to in the first instance. It’s therefore in your interest to elect someone whose values you think represent your own.

You will need photo ID to vote. If you don’t have a valid photo ID, you can get one for free through NUS.
Don’t forget that a student ID card is not an accepted form of ID and photocopies or pictures of your ID on a smartphone will not be accepted. The original form of ID must be shown at the polling station.
