Data archiving

We have solutions to support your data archiving needs.

About the service

The data archiving service enables the University to retain data from structured data sets where:

  • The existing application is due to be “retired” or decommissioned

  • The performance of the existing application could be enhanced by reducing the amount of data held within it

The reason for retaining the data will often be for regulatory or statutory purposes and must be in line with University Data Retention Schedules.

Who is the service for?

Staff.

What does the service cost?

The service is charged based on the amount of data archived and the number of users requiring access. Indicative costs will be provided during early investigation.

How do I access the service?

The Information Compliance Team (dpo@nottingham.ac.uk) can advise whether archiving is the right approach.
